Fire Chief
Mickey Gillie
Fire Chief Mickey Gillie began his distinguished fire service career in Oregon in 1998. Over the years, he has gained extensive experience by serving in a wide range of roles, including volunteer firefighter/EMT, resident student, shift firefighter/paramedic, Deputy Fire Chief, and now as Fire Chief for the DuPont Fire Department.
Chief Gillie joined the DuPont Fire Department in 2023 and is honored to lead a team of dedicated professionals committed to protecting and serving the DuPont community. As Fire Chief, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department’s operations, including emergency response, fire prevention, training, personnel management, and strategic planning. He works closely with city leadership and community partners to ensure the department remains prepared, efficient, and forward-thinking in delivering exceptional service.
Chief Gillie is a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT) with over 19 years of experience. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Services Administration from Eastern Oregon University and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s prestigious Managing Officer Program. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Safety Leadership and Administration (Executive Fire Administration) through Arizona State University.
Passionate about fostering teamwork, promoting safety, and building strong relationships with the community, Chief Gillie leads with a commitment to professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. Under his leadership, the DuPont Fire Department continues to uphold its mission of excellence in service and dedication to the well-being of all residents.
Assistant Fire Chief
Larry Creekmore
Assistant Chief Larry Creekmore began his distinguished fire service career in 1983 with South Kitsap Fire. Bringing decades of experience and leadership, he has been an integral part of the DuPont Fire Department for 20 years as of 2025.
A former Fire Chief for the City of DuPont, Chief Creekmore continues to provide invaluable expertise in his current role. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he remains actively engaged as a first-line responder when needed, exemplifying his dedication to serving the community.
As Assistant Chief, Larry Creekmore is primarily responsible for overseeing Operations and Training, ensuring that the department maintains the highest standards of readiness, efficiency, and professionalism. His leadership is a cornerstone of the department’s success and commitment to excellence.
Fire Marshal
Mike Turner
Mike Turner brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and expertise to his role as Fire Marshal for the DuPont Fire Department. With decades of distinguished service in the fire service, he combines his extensive firefighting background with a deep commitment to fire prevention, safety education, and community resilience.
Before joining the DuPont Fire Department, Mike served with West Pierce Fire and Rescue, where he honed his skills as a firefighter and inspector by developing a strong understanding of emergency response operations, team leadership, and public safety. His years on the front lines have equipped him with invaluable firsthand knowledge of fire behavior, rescue tactics, and the challenges faced by fire crews.
As Fire Marshal, Mike leverages his operational experience to lead fire prevention efforts, enforce safety codes, and advocate for proactive community preparedness. He is a trusted resource for fire inspections, hazard mitigation, and public education aimed at reducing fire risks in DuPont.
Mike’s dedication to the fire service is matched only by his passion for protecting lives and property through innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. His blend of practical firefighting expertise and forward-thinking fire prevention strategies makes him an integral leader in the DuPont Fire Department and a respected figure in the broader firefighting community.

The DuPont Fire Department operates with three shifts, each led by a dedicated Captain who ensures operational excellence and oversees critical areas of responsibility. These Captains are key leaders in our department, bringing expertise, accountability, and a focus on safety to every aspect of their roles.
Each Captain specializes in one of the following areas:
- Facility Captain: Responsible for the maintenance and safety of department facilities, the Facility Captain handles inspections, record-keeping, and scheduling to ensure operational integrity and compliance.
- Equipment Captain: Tasked with managing the department's equipment, this Captain assesses condition and needs, maintains inventories, ensures accountability, and oversees equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Public Education Captain: This Captain leads public education initiatives, coordinates event's and strengthens community engagement and department readiness.
Beyond these specialized responsibilities, Captains conduct firefighter personnel evaluations for their respective shifts and play critical roles during emergency calls:
- EMS Calls: Captains act as primary triage officers, establishing treatment plans to ensure efficient and effective care.
- Fire Suppression Calls: Captains make strategic and tactical decisions to contain and extinguish fires, ensuring the safety of their crews and the public.
All Captains are certified Incident Command Officers, providing leadership during emergencies and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. As required by law, Captains also serve as the primary Safety Officer for Fire Department personnel, prioritizing safety in all operations.

Medical Service Officer (MSO)
David Schreier
The DuPont Fire Department MSO is responsible for overseeing the department’s emergency medical services (EMS) operations. This includes:
Managing EMS personnel and resources.
Ensuring medical protocols and procedures are followed.
Coordinating training and continuing education for EMTs and paramedics.
Maintaining compliance with local and state EMS regulations.
Serving as a liaison with hospitals, medical directors, and other healthcare agencies.
The MSO ensures high-quality medical care is delivered during emergency responses.
